Darwin Botanic Gardens
The 42 hectares of Botanic Gardens are about 2 kilometres north of the Darwin Business District. The gardens are locates opposite Mindal beach just behind Gardens football oval. There are many sections of gardens including a rainforest gully with hundreds of palm species, orchids, ferns, figs, water fountain, a wetland, information cente and a mangrove boardwalk.
Large areas of the Gardens have been landscaped with lawn and open space. The Gardens are used frequently for community events and functions. Barbecue facilities, shady areas with tables and benches and a world class children's playground make the Gardens a popular place for family activities.
The Gardens are more than just beautiful; they also provide an avenue into the plant world for our enjoyment, scientific research, conservation and education.
You can catch the Number 4 bus from the city centre and just ask the driver where to get off but it really is not a long walk from the city centre.
