Markets in Darwin

The Mindil Beach Sunset Markets, have been operating at Darwin's beautiful Mindil Beach every Thursday night during the Dry Season since 1987 and they also operate on a Sunday nights also but the Sunday evening markets are smaller. While the sun sets over the sea, over 60 food stalls prepare cuisine from more than 20 countries including Korean, Indonesian, Japanese, Chinese, Sri Lankan, Thai, Laotian, Indian, Vietnamese, and even Yugoslavian. Aussie food stalls offer emu, crocodile and kangaroo. Add to all this the buskers, masseurs, tarot card readers and a variety of local and travelling musicians offering free entertainment and you find the ingredients for an exciting, unique evening of fine food and entertainment. Alcohol is not sold at the markets but you are more than welcome to bring your own, grab a bit to eat and watch one of the most spectacular sun sets you will ever see. The markets start at 5pm.

You can get to the Mindil Beach Markets by catching the number 4 bus but it is not that far of a walk from the city so it is advised to take a walk and soak in the atmosphere of this famous markets. 

The Parap Markets are on Saturday mornings at Parap Shopping Village and is one of Darwin’s longest running markets. The market operates every Saturday even during the dry season between 7.30 am - 1.30 pm. This vibrant and colourful market place will enthrall you with its diverse food styles, arts and crafts and its busy but relaxed atmosphere. The Parap Markets are very popular with the locals. Taking a bus, catch the number 4 from the city.
