Cost of supermarket food

 

Because most hostels in Darwin have good cooking facilities, the cheapest and healthiest way of eating is by buying your food at a local supermarket and cooking it yourself. Backpacking in Darwin will give you a general guide of the price of common food items that are purchased from day to day.

The cost of supermarket food in Darwin is very reasonable. The two biggest supermarket chains in Australia are Woolworths and Coles. Coles is called Safeway in some states of Australia. Both of these food chains can be found at nearly any shopping centre or suburb in Australia.

In Darwin both Woolworths and Coles are found in the middle of the city centre. Both of these supermarkets are about a 1 or 2 minutes walk from most hostels on Mitchell ST.

Backpacking in Darwin will give you an average price of what supermarket food costs in Darwin. The price of food at a supermarket in Australia does not differ that greatly from one state to another.
